A way forward for the Church?...

The Dominican Biblical Institute, Upper Cecil Street, Limerick will present four Advent Talks on the topic: A way forward for the Church?

Mary T. Malone will give the first talk on 24 November. (Holy Ground: Starting from where we are).  This presentation will suggest the many conversions that need to occur, personally, communally and ecclesially, as we move toward the transformation of the church in Ireland.  She lectured in theology in Canada for 30 years.  She has written a three volume history on Women & Christianity, and also Praying with the Women Mystics. She will speak from a woman's perspective, but not exclusively so.

Joseph Kavanagh will give the second talk on 1 December: (Hope and Humour:

He set up the Priory Institute in Tallaght in 2000 to promote distance education in theology and was its moderator until 2010. He has worked in pastoral ministry in Ireland and Trinidad.

Michael Campbell-Johnston will give the third talk on 8 December (The Church in today’s world: the crises it faces and the advantages it possesses).  He is a Jesuit and has worked for social justice for 40 years.  He lived and worked closely with the poor in Guyana and El Salvador.  He co-ordinated the work of the Jesuits for faith and justice world-wide for eight years.

Ethna Regan will speak on 15 December (Wintering Out: Facing our History:
seeking understanding and hoping a future). She teaches theology at Mater Dei Institute, Dublin. She was a lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, where she lived for over a decade and also worked for justice and human rights.
